Product description

Published context, clearly separated from lot claims.

A technical catalog should make the chemical record, relevant experimental literature and product-specific documentation independently reviewable.

MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the 12S rRNA region. Published research has examined its relationship to folate and purine metabolism, AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling and cellular glucose utilization.

In HEK293 cells, MOTS-c was reported to increase AICAR accumulation, activate AMPK and increase glycolysis in an AMPK-dependent manner. At 1 µM, it increased osteogenic differentiation and calcified-nodule formation in rat bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Animal studies have explored metabolic and cardiovascular endpoints.

Selected published findings

  • Associated with AICAR accumulation, AMPK activation and AMPK-dependent glycolysis in HEK293 cells.
  • Examined for osteogenic-differentiation endpoints in rat bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells.
  • Was evaluated in non-clinical metabolic and cardiovascular models.
